Soft PTFE Coated Fiberglass Tadpole Gasket & Tape. This high temperature, heat resistant and chemical resistant tadpole gasket tape offers the advantage of a non-asbestos material with a higher temperature range and with excellent resistance to almost all solvents, caustics and acids.
The base fiberglass fabric is rated to 1000°F / 537°C while the PTFE coating melting point is 620°F / 327°C.
The bulb material can be Fiberglass Rope, Stainless Steel Mesh or Inconel Mesh. The metal mesh bulbs have better puchback and less compression set than the rope bulb.
The tail of the tadpole is usually fastened by using metal fasteners, or by using a grab strip to hold the tail in place by compression. Tadpoles are often used on boilers, ovens, and furnaces where they provide a seal by the door or access panel resting on the bulb. Also used on butterfly valves to provide sealing.
