Rope and Packing Gasket Seals


Rope and packing gasket seals are used in a variety of sealing and gasketing applications. They offer easy installation.  Square rope and packing is used as a shaft seal on rotating shafts such as on pumps.

A variety of materials includes fiberglass, silica, aramid, ceramic, vermiculite, ptfe, graphite.

Ropes are generally round, or twisted.  Square ropes are also available and most packings are square.  Custom ropes with multiple cores are available.

This high-temperature gasket sealing rope is heat & chemical resistant PTFE coated fiberglass and offers the advantage of a non-asbestos material with a higher temperature range and with excellent resistance to almost all solvents, caustics and acids.

The base fiberglass fabric is rated to 1000°F / 537°C while the PTFE coating melting point is 620°F / 327°C.

This high temperature rope is heat and flame resistant.  This knitted rope is fabricated with high quality type E-fiberglass that will not burn and will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures of 1200°F / 648°C. Available in soft and dense knitted and also square braid construction.

This material resists most acids and alkalis and is unaffected by most bleaches and solvents.  It is highly flexible and conformable.

The base fiber is manufactured to the specifications of ASTM D-578, ASTM committee D13, and subcommittee D13.18.

This high temperature, heat and flame resistant graphite coated fiberglass rope will withstand temperatures of 1000°F / 537°C continuous exposure.  Available in Soft or Dense knit or square braid construction.  The base high temperature and heat resistant knitted fiberglass rope is fabricated from high quality type E fiberglass that will not burn.  The rope is then coated with graphite, adding lubrication.

This rope resists molten splash and welding splatter very well as it cannot stick to the graphite.

The base rope is rated to a higher temperature however the graphite coating limits ts use to 1000°F / 537°C.

Available in a standard industrial version, or a special Heat Treated Outer Braid for Paint Booth and Clean Room Applications:

The core can be either stainless steel or inconel mesh.

The heat treated version of the rope has a smooth braided shell made from filamant fiber yarn, providing an extremely clean and free of loose fiber outer shell, especially suited for applications such as paint shop booths where loose fibers are not tolerated, such as automotive assembly.

This material resists most acids and alkalis and is unaffected by most bleaches and solvents.  It is highly flexible and conformable.

Supplied cut to length, this metal mesh cored rope makes an excellent seal due to its compressability, and adds EMI/RFI protection to cabinets and enclosures.

This high temperature, heat & flame resistant and thermal insulating fiberglass rope gasket seal is fabricated with high quality type E fiberglass that will not burn and will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures of 1200°F / 648°C. Commonly used as a gasket or seal for access doors and gate valves and other oven, stove, bbq and smoker applications and also paint booth and clean room applications.

Two size of the rope are available: OD of 0.42" / 10.7mm and OD of 0.57" / 14.4mm.  Clip spacing is 3".  Unwanted clips may be removed with side cutters.

This high temperature, heat and flame resistant fiberglass gasket and seal rope is often used as a kiln door gasket/seal and as a seal on gas turbines, and is fabricated from high quality type E fiberglass that will not burn and will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures of 1100°F / 593°C.

This material resists most acids and alkalis and is unaffected by most bleaches and solvents.  It is highly flexible and conformable.  The base fiber is manufactured to the specifications of ASTM D-578, ASTM committee D13, and subcommittee D13.18.

The seals are then jacketed with a knitted 30 stainless steel wire mesh, providing significant abrasion resistance.  Supplied cut to length, each seal can be custom fabricated from a wide variety of diameters and configurations to provide the precise thickness and depth of seal for each U channel design specification. Pre-engineering each seal insures a simple, labor saving solution to the problem of containing heat. This efficient design reduces fuel consumption and eliminates cold spots in brick/tile kilns which can cause some of the brick or tile to be under fired

Knitted stainless steel and inconel mesh cables and ropes are used in a variety of products and applications.  They provide compressive strength as the fill in the bulb or tail of high temperature industrial and commercial gaskets such as TadpoleTape Gaskets and are widely used to provide EMI / RFI gasketing protection for electronic enclosures.

Stainless steel and inconel mesh cables may be impregnated with silicone or silicone gels to offer further environmental sealing.

Also available as a stainless steel or inconel hollow sleeve.

1500°F / 815°C Continuous Exposure: Higher Intermittent

FlameShield™ 1500 high temperature, heat and flame resistant vermiculite coated fiberglass rope will withstand temperatures of 1500°F / 815°C continuous exposure.  Available in round, twisted and square.  The base High Temperature fiberglass rope is fabricated from high quality type E fiberglass that will not burn.  The rope is then coated with a vermiculite dispersant.  This material resists most acids and alkalis and is unaffected by most bleaches and solvents.  It is highly flexible and conformable.

Applications for this product include as seals on oven and kiln doors, fireplace doors, industrial and laboratory ovens.  The vermiculite coating also adds abrasion resistance to the rope.

There are 4 styles of rope available:  Knitted Soft and Knitted Dense Rope; Twisted Rope and Square Braided Fiberglass Rope (also called Square Dry Packing).

Tested and certified to meet the requirements of ASTM E 162, ASTM E 662 and SMP 800-C for surface flammability, smoke and toxic gas generation.

InSilMaxä is an extreme high temperature rope, available in round, twisted and square, which is heat and flame resistant. Used in almost all industries for the highest heat protection available.

Produced from an extremely pure silica base fiber (SiO2) and can be used at 1800°F continuously with excursions to 3000°F / 1650°C.

Applications for this product include as seals on oven, furnace and kiln doors, fireplace doors, industrial and laboratory ovens.

High Temperature Heat and Flame Resistant

2000°F / 1093°C Continuous Exposure: Higher Intermittent

Extreme high temperature and heat resistant knitted ceramic fiber rope is light-weight, flexible and has good handling strength.  Provides low thermal conductivity and good dielectric strength and features excellent corrosion resistance.

This material is produced from an extremely pure alumino-silicate ceramic fiber non-woven material and can be used at 2000°F continuously with excursions to 3000°F / 1650°C.

Used as a gasket on boilers, furnances, kilns or as a packing on rotating shafts.  This product has low organic content, but should be raised to temperature slowly in order to remove and smoke-off organics to prevent caramilization.

Available in an Industrial Grade and Premium Grade - the Premium Grade has been heat cleaned to reduce caramelization.

Used as a compression packing gasket seal compression packing for pump and valve shafts and as a stuffing box packing. PTFE added for lubrication.
 
Made from flexible graphite yarn composed of exfoliated high purity crystalline mineral graphite (flake graphite) and then square braided.
 
Useable to 900°F / 482°C in normal air atmosphere; 1800°F / 982°C in steam or mild oxidization atmospheres/media and 5400°F / 2982°C in non-oxidizing atmospheres/media.
